CAN I DROP MY SORORITY AND JOIN ANOTHER SORORITY?
After you accept the bid, you are labeled as a new member. You have to go through a process before you become an initiated member. If you drop out of the sorority BEFORE you are initiated, you can go through recruitment the following year.
If you drop out of the sorority after you have been initiated, you are NEVER able to go through recruitment again! If you do not like the sorority you joined and you feel like another sorority is a better fit for you, you NEED to drop out of the sorority before initiation.
Should you go through sorority recruitment for a second time?
It depends on your college. If your college, does not have a secondary quota or an upperclassmen quota, it will be much more difficult to receive a bid. Many of the sororities will not extend bids to sophomores or upperclassmen.
How to see if your college has a secondary or upperclassmen quota
You want to email Panhellenic at your college and ask. To find the email for Panhellenic, Google “college name Panhellenic sorority recruitment.” Once you are on the website, search at the bottom of the homepage or in the contact section.

Why CAn I not join another sorority after i am initiated?
During initiation, you agree to be a sister for LIFE. The sorority wants to know you are committed. This rule of not being allowed to join another Panhellenic sorority is the same for ALL 26 Panhellenic sororities.
You CAN join a non-Panhellenic sorority.
Just an FYI: The 26 Panhellenic sororities are:
Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Delta Phi Epsilon, Delta Zeta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Phi Sigma Sigma, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Delta Tau, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Theta Phi Alpha, and Zeta Tau Alpha.
let’s say you get initiated, and you still want to drop your sorority. Now, what?
Every sorority is different, but here is a general breakdown.
There is a member who is in charge of membership. You need to go and talk to her about dropping out of the sorority. She most likely is going to set up a meeting with you. During the meeting, she will ask you why you are dropping out of the sorority. You will have to explain your situation.
Can you rejoin?
Once you drop, it is permanent. You cannot rejoin.
If you are going on a study abroad or taking a semester off, I recommend you talk to the member in charge of membership. Your sorority might have a program that allows you to not pay for the semester you are gone.
What about if I transfer? Can I join another sorority?
If you drop after you are initiated, you cannot join another sorority. Therefore, you cannot join another sorority at a different college.
However, if you are in a sorority and you transfer, you can join the same sorority. You go through the transfer process at your new college. To start this process, you need to connect with the membership coordinator of your sorority at your new college.
If your new college does not have your sorority, you still cannot join another sorority.
Moral of the story.
If you want to go through sorority recruitment again, you NEED to drop your sorority.
If you go through initiation, you are NEVER allowed to join another Panhellenic sorority.

First, you ask a friend, not in your math class, “How do I get an A+ on my test?” She says, “You need to study.” This answer leaves you frustrated.
Then, you ask your teacher, “How do I get an A+ on my test?” She gives you a step-by-step plan.
