SOCIAL RESUME
We have taken a difficult math test and wished we had an answer key. It can be hard to memorize all the formulas, concepts, and steps.
When you ask a woman to fill out a recommendation letter without a social resume, it feels like they are taking a difficult math test without the answer key. The recommendation letter asks specific questions about you — like you home address, GPA, involvement from high school, awards, etc. Many times the alumna does not know the answers. If she does not know the answers,
She may call you or email you constantly to figure them out.
She might guess and get it incorrect. Now, you talk to members who are very different than you. It is hard to connect when you have nothing in common. If you do not connect, you are most likely not going to be invited back.
It is too much work to contact you, so she never fills it out. At some colleges, a recommendation letter is necessary to be invited back to Round 2.
You want to make this process as easy as possible for the alumna. When you give her your social resume, you give her the answer key to what you want her to write about you. You give her all of the information she needs. You share what you want to talk about during sorority recruitment.
Additionally, your social resume will help you fill out your registration application.
IS A SOCIAL RESUME THE SAME AS A JOB RESUME?
A social resume is similar to a job resume, but it is not the same.
The main point of a job resume is to show you are qualified for the job. You share your past work experiences and skills. This information helps the employer know if you are the right person for the job and stand out from the other candidates.
In sorority recruitment, you are not applying for a job. Your skills and past work experience do not get you a bid. The members look for friends, women who are involved, women who care about their academics, and women who are interested in joining their sorority.
The goal of the social resume is to make it easy for the woman to fill out your recommendation letter. Your recommendation letter allows the sorority to see if you are a good fit for the sorority and helps them know which members you should talk to during sorority recruitment. In your social resume, you want to share relevant information that allows the sorority to learn about you.
How can you use your social resume to stand out from the other potential new members?
Have you seen the movie Legally Blonde?
When Elle applies to Professor Callahan’s internship, she uses scented, pink paper to stand out from the other students.
Does it give her an advantage?
Most likely! We know she was the only student to use this type of paper. You want to apply the same idea to your social resume.
Do you need to use scented, pink paper?
Absolutely, not! Instead, you want to get ultra-specific on what you have accomplished over your four years in high school and, or college. You want to share the information that is important to you. That is how you stand out!
The colors you use on your social resume will NOT help you stand out. Imagine looking through 1,000 social resumes. Which social resume would you pick to stand out? The pink ones? The blue ones? They do not care what color your social resume is. They look at the information on it. They care if your values align with the members.
How do you make the process easy and give her all of the information she needs?
In The Ultimate Guide to Sorority Recruitment, you receive a step-by-step guide to create your social resume (what to include, how much to include, etc.), tips, and an example. This guide is based on reviewing recommendation letters for most of the Panhellenic sororities. This way, you only have to write one social resume. You know you are giving each woman the correct information, and the process is easy!
Also, with this book, you know how to get recommendation letters, how to correctly prep for sorority recruitment, what questions the members are going to ask you, how to correctly answer their questions, and how sorority recruitment works.
You can stop Googling all of your questions. You have the answers!

Do you need to buy a social resume template on Etsy or Google?
No! I encourage my CRUSH clients to not buy these templates.
Why would I suggest not buying these templates?
The social resume templates are designed to look pretty. The color and design of your social resume will not get you a bid. Let me explain.
You are about to take a HUGE math test. This test is 90% of your grade.
Do you stress out about what color your pencil is? Do you really care if it is purple, green, blue, or yellow?
Most likely, you do not care about the color of the pencil. You are spending time studying and making sure you are prepared for the test.
This same idea applies to sorority recruitment.
Let’s look at the University of Alabama. On average, 2,5000 women go through sorority recruitment each year. The recruitment team is not going through 2,5000 social resumes and picking the “prettiest” social resumes to invite back to Round 2. They are looking at the information to find the potential new members who are good fits.
Main takeaway. Your social resume will NOT get you a bid. You want to think of it as the ANSWER KEY to your recommendation letter. It needs to have the right information on it. That way, you communicate to the sororities that you are a good fit.
Many of the templates on Etsy are designed to look pretty, but they do not have the right information on them. When creating your social resume, you need to answer this question — Is your social resume the answer key for your recommendation letters (does it hold all the necessary information?)

HOW TO CREATE YOUR SOCIAL RESUME?
There are many ways to personalize (add color, fonts, etc.) your resume. The way I recommend creating a social resume for my clients is through Canva. It is a FREE graphic design website.
How to create your social resume on Canva
Step #1. Go to canva.com
Step #2. Click “Sign up” in the upper, right corner
Step #3. Create your account
Step #4. Click “Create a design” in the upper, right corner
Step #5. Search “resume”
Step #6. Customize your resume
There are several different templates to use. You can choose to use one of the templates, or you can design your own. You can change the colors, font, add elements, and more. It is super easy to use! Have fun with it!
Step #7. When you are done creating your resume, download it.
To download your resume Click the downward arrow in the top, right section. Then, click download. Now, you can print it out or send it via email to all the women who are writing your recommendation letters. If you are sending your recommendation letter via email, you will want to save your social resume as a PDF. When you save it as a PDF, it ensures it will look the same way you designed it to look — elements will not move on the page.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO INCLUDE in your social resume?
The sections you need to include are:
Your Name
Contact Information
A Picture
Education
Activities and extracurriculars
Volunteer Work
Work Experience
Awards
Legacy and Greek Affiliation
Hobbies
WHEN DO YOU NEED TO MAKE your social resume?
The sooner the better. You NEED to make it before you start asking for recommendation letters. You need to send this resume along with all the other documents to the women that are writing your recommendation letters.
Do you need recruitment packets? Click HERE
Also, you will fill out a form while you are registering for sorority recruitment. This form will ask for many of the items you will put on your social resume. Your social resume will be a good guide to have while filling out the form!
HOW LONG SHOULD your SOCIAL RESUME BE?
One to two pages
If your social resume is three pages, you have too much information.
CONCLUSION
Your social resume helps you get the correct information on your recommendation letters. This information can lead you to be paired to talk to the right members. If you talk to the right members and make lasting connections, you STAND OUT. When you stand out, you get invited back to sororities you LOVE. Then on Bid Day, you get to run home to your DREAM sorority!
DO YOUTUBE AND TIKTOK HELP YOU STAND OUT DURING SORORITY RECRUITMENT?
When you depend on Youtube and TikTok for advice, you prepare like everyone else. When you look like everyone else, you do not stand out. If a sorority can only invite back 30% of all PNMs, how will you show them that you deserve to be in the top 30%?
Instead of using advice and being the Overlooked Potential New Member, you want to use a step-by-step plan to gain Rush Crush status -- stand out, have options, and run home to a sorority you love. Click the video below to see how CRUSH [sorority recruitment coaching] can help you create and implement your plan.
You have a math test in two weeks that is worth 90% of your grade for the class. You want to get an A. You are looking for guidance on how to get your A.
First, you ask a friend, not in your math class, “How do I get an A+ on my test?” She says, “You need to study.” This answer leaves you frustrated.
Then, you ask your teacher, “How do I get an A+ on my test?” She gives you a step-by-step plan.
Who was more helpful?
Your teacher, right?
To get an A, you need to know the right information and have a step-by-step plan.
To get a bid to a sorority you love, you have to communicate you are the right fit for the sorority before and during sorority recruitment. A step-by-step plan tells you how and when to communicate.
BUT… why do so many women going through sorority recruitment ONLY use the advice they find on Youtube and TikTok? Does it help them stand out and get a bid?
Click the video below to see how The Ultimate Guide to Sorority Recruitment can help you create and implement your plan.
